At his special ceremony, Ren Patinder gets stuck with the "failure's egg," which hatches into a spore the weakest creature ever known, showing up as odd glowing mushrooms on his head. Everyone looks down on him, valuing only big, strong beasts. But Ren soon finds out his little spore gives him amazing smarts and secret knowledge about how to train all kinds of creatures. Now, with a mind no one expects, Ren has to find his way in a world obsessed with raw power, break all the rules, outsmart his strong opponents, and help his tiny spore grow into something far more incredible than anyone, even himself, could have imagined.
